MBA Data Manager appointed Co-chair of key UK marine data working group

Chloe Figueroa Ashforth from DASSH at the Marine Biological Association has been appointed as the new Co-chair of the Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) Communications Working Group. 

Chloe will work alongside fellow Co-chair Charlotte Miskin-Hymas from the MEDIN Core Team, and will represent the MEDIN Communications Working Group on the MEDIN Executive Team.

Chloe is Data Manager at the MBA and regularly helps to deliver MEDIN training workshops, supports MBA contributions to UK and European data initiatives and represents the UK in the global Ocean Biodiversity Information Systems (OBIS) Steering Group. She has been an active participant of several MEDIN Working Groups over the past couple of years and brings experience and enthusiasm to the role.

As a member of the MEDIN Communications working group, Standards Working group and Data Archive Centre Working Group for the last couple of years, Chloe has delivered sessions for the MEDIN Workshop. She has consistently contributed to the MEDIN’s goal of ‘publish once, harvest many times’, through her day-to-day work in DASSH, the MEDIN and CoreTrustSeal accredited Data Archive Centre for Marine Biodiversity data.

Chloe said: “I’m looking forward to supporting the current Co-chair in leading and delivering the work for the Communications Working Group to increase engagement with the MEDIN and awareness of the important work carried out by the network.”
