I am an Applied Research Scientist specialising in plankton ecology, statistical analysis, and data processing. My research focuses on the application of ecological theory and quantitative methods to investigate spatio-temporal variability in planktonic communities. I have authored publications on ecological niche theory, marine pelagic biodiversity, global environmental change, biogeography, mesoscale ecology, and the influence of spatial and temporal scales on marine ecosystems. In addition to contributing to fundamental research, I have extensive experience in contract-based scientific work and the preparation of technical and scientific reports. At the Marine Biological Association (MBA), I provide advanced scientific and data-science expertise to support the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Survey, with particular emphasis on numerical ecology, environmental data science, and robust data-management practices in support of research, applied science, and commercial activities. I have also led the iCPR project, which aimed to expand the application of modern sensing technologies and introduce artificial intelligence (AI) within the CPR Survey, a long-standing global plankton observation network.
