The Marine Biological Association is pleased to welcome Sarah Holmyard to our Board of Trustees. With over 20 years’ experience in the UK and international seafood sector, Sarah has built a career focused on ocean stewardship, spanning fisheries, aquaculture, marketing, and sustainability.

As Commercial Director of Offshore Shellfish, the UK’s first large-scale offshore mussel farm, Sarah has helped to develop a pioneering aquaculture site that supports sustainable seafood production and provides a platform for marine research. This work has strengthened the evidence base for offshore ecosystems and aligns closely with the MBA’s mission to advance marine science.

Sarah also holds several influential governance roles, including Board Director of Seafish, Director of UK Women in Fisheries, and member of the Devon & Severn Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (IFCA). She chairs the Southwest Regional Advisory Group and is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers.

Bringing expertise in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and international market growth, Sarah aims to contribute her insight and advocacy to support the MBA’s long-term impact. Her appointment reflects a shared commitment to marine sustainability and evidence-based decision-making.
