Pete Rendle – 47 years of service

Appointed to the MBA on 18th October 1976 as Deck Hand/Engineer on our past Research Vessels Sepia (a previous version of our current RV Sepia) and RV Squilla. Pete has been dedicated to the Marine Biological Association for over 47 years.

Prior to that, Pete started as a fitter with the Royal Navy.  He studied Marine Engineering at the Naval Dockyard College and Engineering theory at Plymouth technical College. He has always been passionate about rugby and has been known to sprint the length of the Breakwater!

Pete has been well loved by all who work or visit the MBA, bringing a smile to so many faces with his tireless humour and kind spirit.

Pete has been key in preparing for the new labs and sorting out all of the back corridor rooms, working wonders with helping others with their office clearing. Pete will be well known to all of the MRES students who he has helped over the years.

Generally, Pete is well known as a ‘bit of a legend! We wish you well in your retirement Pete. Thank you for all you have done for all of us in the MBA over the years, the memories and stories that will remain here in the MBA ad perpetuum.
