NMBL/NMBL Opening Doors Library Events

New Virtual Events notice:

Plymouth History Festival Online and a Virtual Tour of the NMBL

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions the Festival is now taking place online (click the above link) and we are providing a "Virtual Tour" of the National Marine Biological Library (NMBL).  The tour is available on 19th May from 1pm and there is a Quiz available from 2pm (answers tomorrow!)

The NMBL, based at the MBA in Plymouth UK, is one of the largest marine reference libraries in the world, holding thousands of scientific journal titles and books, historical literature, expedition reports, a herbarium, objects, and archives.

The Library was established in 1889 and its collections tell the remarkable story of The Association, its people and its work.

We are providing a History of the Marine Biological Association and the Evolution of the Library, along with an insight to our Rare Books and Objects Collections.  There will also be a Quiz to Guess what the Object is and what it is used for!

This is your opportunity to see our special and unique library "virtually" so please do join us online this week from 19th May at 1pm (Quiz at 2pm).
