NMBL/NMBL Opening Doors Library Events

Virtual Events notice:

Plymouth History Festival Online and a Virtual Tour of the NMBL

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions the Festival took place online in May (click the above link) and we provided a "Virtual Tour" of the National Marine Biological Library (NMBL).  The tour is still available and there is a Quiz available with answers

The NMBL, based at the MBA in Plymouth UK, is one of the largest marine reference libraries in the world, holding thousands of scientific journal titles and books, historical literature, expedition reports, a herbarium, objects, and archives.

The Library was established in 1889 and its collections tell the remarkable story of The Association, its people and its work.

We are providing a History of the Marine Biological Association and the Evolution of the Library, along with an insight to our Rare Books and Objects Collections.  There is also a Quiz to Guess what the Object is and what it is used for!

This is your opportunity to see our special and unique library "virtually" so please do take a look.
