Sean’s role at The MBA is Skipper of The Research Vessel MBA SEPIA, providing service to the MBA’s National Capability work and support to all sea going work, logistics and training. Sean is commercially endorsed and has been in charge of sea going vessels and projects for many years. His training and qualifications are provided and sanctioned through the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), Royal Yachting Association (RYA), National Workboats Association (NWA) and Standards of Training, Certifications & Watchkeeping (STCW) They include Powerboat Level 1, Powerboat level 2, Advanced Powerboat, Safety Boat, Dayskipper, Coastal Skipper and Offshore Yachtmaster Sean holds all of the necessary qualifications for STCW sea fairing including Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, First Aid, Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities and he holds a Maritime Coastguard Agency Approved Engineering Certification. He is a First Aid instructor and is qualified to teach the use of an Automated External Defibrillator and Oxygen Administration systems. He also takes responsibility for Health & Safety to personnel aboard the SEPIA In addition to his role at the MBA, he has 20+ years within the Professional, Recreational, Commercial and Technical diving industry.
