Angela is the Cell and Molecular Laboratory Manager at the MBA. She coordinates the facility and working environment of approximately 30 people. She is also the Curator of the MBA Culture Collection supplying cultures to collaborators and researchers within the Cell and Molecular department. She completed an MSc in Applied Marine Science at Plymouth University, including a project on elevated CO2 levels on crabs. She then went on to work as an Ecotoxicologist at Cefas in Burnham-on-Crouch, taking a lead on Direct Toxicity of Effluent samples using micro algae and invertebrates. She then went on to work at AstraZeneca in Brixham as an Algal Ecotoxicology Study Director and Client Manager, specialising in acute toxicity tests for difficult substances, writing GLP reports and advising clients. She is currently involved in projects looking at the life-cycle of Emiliania Huxleyi and isolation of cells for a sustainable micro-algae biorefinery.
