Guy is Communications Coordinator at the MBA, overseeing many aspects of external communication.
The MBA communicates with many audiences, from MBA staff and members to funders, policy makers, the media, and the wider public. Guy's role is to coordinate external and internal communication and develop the area of communications. Day-to-day, Guy oversees media relations, online content - including managing the MBA's social media presence - develops and maintains the MBA branding, keeps the MBA website news up-to-date, and deals with enquiries. He is also Editor of The Marine Biologist magazine, the MBA's flagship membership benefit.
After working with the Tidal Water Quality group at the Environment Agency, Guy came to work at the MBA in 2002. Guy has a BSc (Hons) in Geology from Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (University of London) and Applied Marine Science (MSc) from Plymouth University. His Masters thesis looked at ocean colour and sea surface temperature, and the timing of phytoplankton blooms in the western English Channel.
Guy has extensive experience in public outreach, including managing marine community outreach projects. He writes articles, gives talks to the public, and authored a chapter in Exemplary Practices in Marine Science Education.
