Guy J. Baker
After working as a mud logger in the oil industry as Chief Illustrator in the Geography department at University College, London, Guy studied for an MSc in Applied Marine Science at Plymouth University.His dissertation looked at ocean colour and sea surface temperature, and the timing of phytoplankton blooms in the western English Channel. After some voluntary work and three years with the Tidal Water Quality group at the Environment Agency, Guy came to work at the MBA in 2002. As Communications Officer Guy manages external communications through liaison with academic staff, media relations and social media interactions. He also develops and maintains the MBA branding and keeps the the MBA website news up-to-date. He writes funding bids for educational projects and manages a community outreach project. Alongside the Communications Officer role Guy is Editor of The Marine Biologist
, the MBA’s magazine for members. This involves sourcing, editing, collating and typesetting high quality content for a full-colour magazine, published twice a year.
