Katie works as a PDRA in the BEECH (Smale) Group, focussing primarily on work funded by Dan’s Future Leaders Fellowship award. Broadly, her research will explore the impacts of marine heatwaves on benthic ecosystems.
After completing her PhD in 2013, she spent 3.5 years working in the Florida Institute of Technology (USA) running a large project examining the impacts of climate change on benthic ecosystems off the western Antarctic Peninsula. She then returned to the UK to complete a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship at the University of Exeter. Her Marie Curie research explored the impacts of climate change on early development in marine invertebrates and the potential for transgenerational plasticity in marine invertebrates in response to multiple environmental stressors.
