Deirdre McLachlan

Diedre is interested in how organisms sense and respond to changes in their environment, the perception/ transduction/ response pathways within cells, spatio-temporal dynamics of signalling, and how hormone interactions and metabolic state affect signalling pathways and cellular responses. Since gaining herPhD, on motility and calcium signalling in diatoms, she has mostly studied Arabidopsis guard cell signalling in response to abiotic and biotic stresses.  She has also worked on metal nanoparticle toxicity in freshwater green algae. Diedre is currently investigating diatom motility and intercellular communication in the Brownlee group.
