Summer is one of the DASSH Data Officers. Her role mainly consists of data-based tasks such as maintaining the DASSH archive and quality assurance.
Summer studied Marine Biology at Bangor University and graduated with an M degree (undergraduate masters) in 2016. During her studies she developed a keen interest in regime shifts, and how stable systems get to the point at which one can occur. Her 4th year thesis was based on the resilience of salt marshes and involved the collection of DGPS points along several field sites in North Wales. After her studies she was initially employed as a GIS Technician for BT Open reach working on a large national database. She left this employment to start a 3-month placement on the Marine Mammal Monitoring Programme with University College Cork in Ireland. Shortly after returning from Ireland, she was offered a 9-month position as a LAMAVE Project Leader to run a research project in the Philippines.
