World Ocean Day is a global event to raise awareness of the wonder and importance of the ocean. The Marine Biological Association will be working with partners locally, nationally and internationally to celebrate World Ocean Day on June 8th with events and exhibitions for all ages

  • Rocky shore survey with CoCoast, at Firestone Bay (Devil's Point beach) low tide, for CoCoast volunteers and the public. To join please register here.
  • Crab watch and 'beach desk', at Firestone Bay (Devil's Point beach), from 4.30 am - 6.30 pm, open to the public. 
  • A tour of the MBA's research facilities followed by a workshop on Ocean Literacy at the MBA's Citadel Hill laboratory, for the NMA’s Marine Science Club. For more information see the Europe-wide Sea Change project
  • Plankton workshop, Mount Batten Centre, an evening event, for young people on a residential course.
