DASSH, the UK Archive for Marine Species and Habitats Data has received an early present this festive season. We have been selected by the FAIRsFAIR project (https://www.fairsfair.eu/) to receive €10k to support the process of DASSH obtaining CoreTrustSeal Accreditation. CoreTrustSeal is an international, non-profit, community-based organisation and the certification process aims to promote sustainable, transparent and trustworthy data repositories. As part of the MBA’s internationally renowned Data Team activities, DASSH is committed to making marine biodiversity data as open and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) as possible.
Dan Lear, Head of Data, Information and Technology at the MBA said “This award is great news for the MBA Data Team and DASSH. It will allow us to focus effort on the accreditation process, and participate in key workshops and events aimed at achieving this goal. The CoreTrust Seal certification provides a clear statement of intent around our commitment to sharing marine species and habitats data as widely as possible, and in the promotion of global standards in support of this activity.”
DASSH is already an accredited data centre in the UK Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) and the UK Node of OBIS, the Ocean Biogeographic Information System. To find out more about DASSH or any of the activities of the MBA Data Team please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
