The European Marine Biological Resource Centre (EMBRC) provides a strategic delivery platform for excellent and large-scale marine science in Europe. The overall concept being EMBRC is of a European wide distributed infrastructure offering high level marine biology services underpinning the Blue Growth agenda.
This is a Horizon 2020 INFRADEV-2-15 ESFRI research infrastructure project - on the second phase (pp2EMBRC) - that provides researchers from academia and industry across the ERA and beyond with access to:
i) a variety of rich marine ecosystems;
ii) a comprehensive series of marine model organisms;
iii) state-of-the-art research infrastructure;
iv) practical training and education to enable accomplishment of research objectives;
v) Knowledge and technology transfer aid to SMEs and industry with their RTD and Innovation; and,
vi) Hosting and catering facilities to allow users to focus on their research objectives during their stay.
The EMBRC-ERIC, in the process of application, will carry the integration much further by organizing the partner stations themselves on a wider European scale, thereby facilitating not only the user access but a whole series of functionalities such as scientific collaboration, exchange of personnel, shared (and thus more efficient) use of capital investments, data, and so on.
