Esther is responsible for the management and sign-off of marine biological data for DASSH; the MEDIN accredited Data Archive Centre (DAC), and delivery of DASSH species datasets to the National Biodiversity Network (NBN). She is a member of the Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) Standards Working Group, is involved in the development of the MEDIN discovery metadata standard and biodiversity data specifications for the UK. She has worked on a variety of contracts including the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) baseline data collation of NNS, Marine Recorder data entry for the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) and Natural England, and Marine Environmental Change Network (MECN) reporting. She was also a core team member for the literature and confidence assessment of data for Defra’s MB0116 Evidence Review of literature and data used to support the Marine Conservation Zones (MCZ) network. Esther is currently involved in projects relating to the data collation, review and standards development for marine biodiversity data in the UK, and more widely in developing EU data and citizen science projects. Esther also coordinates Sealife Survey, the MBA’s marine wildlife recording scheme, and delivers the MBA Short Course ‘Introduction to Seaweeds’.
