Dorothee Kottmeier
Dorothee is a postdoctoral researcher in Professor Brownlee's group investigating single cell physiology of coccolithophores and diatoms. Using imaging, molecular and electrophysiological techniques she is investigating cellular mechanisms involved in sensing and regulating intracellular pH and how these mechanisms interact with the biogeochemical environment of the cell. Prior to her postdoc at the MBA, she worked in Marine Biogeosciences department of the Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany, where she studied the substrate supply for photosynthesis and calcification in coccolithophores by means of membrane inlet mass spectrometry and 14C tracer techniques.
