Gerald Langer
Gerald is interested in calcification of marine organisms, including the fundamental processes of calcification and its sensitivity to environmental factors such as temperature, nutrient availability and seawater carbonate chemistry. Most of his work focuses on unicellular organisms, in particular coccolithophores and foraminifera. At the MBA he is working with Dr Glen Wheeler and Professor Colin Brownlee on the silicon requirement of coccolithophore calcification.
