Supporting the Marine Biological Association
Donate to the MBA
If you would like to donate some money to the MBA we can accept donations through PayPal
Thank you for linking to the section that provides information on how the work of the MBA can be supported through bequests and charitable donations. Several bequests already help the MBA and provide examples of how such funds can be used.
- Spooner Bursaries (bequests from Malcolm and Molly Spooner) give young scientists the chance to research a topic of their choice, usually over a period of a few months.
- The Bull fund (a bequest from H.O. Bull) helps the National Marine Biological Library to purchase rare and valuable books.
- The Ray Lankester Investigatorship Fund provides opportunities for established researchers to work at the premises of the Marine Biological Association.
There are other areas of work that the MBA would like to develop but for which funds are currently unavailable or inadequate. These areas include:
- Developing the archives of marine biological research in the UK so that the history of marine biological studies is as fully recorded as possible. The development is not only about obtaining and archiving books, manuscripts and photographic material but about constructing secure and climate-controlled storage facilities.
- Helping the public to enjoy marine life, get involved in recording activities and raise awareness of how our seas can be protected and managed.
